You may be wondering why I would admit to having owned a Ford Pinto. Well, it's simple -- I was a teenager in the late seventies and this was my first car -- and after all, my parents did offer to buy it for me. Yup, the only time you actually choose to own a Pinto is if someone else is willing to pay for it. Jokes aside, it was a fairly reliable little car. Uh...and yeah, that's me...remember, this was the seventies. Anyway, she was dubbed, "Avocado Lucy" by my Dad.

Here's a rear-view shot of Avocado Lucy (that's my younger brother, Jerry, in
the foreground, ready for a Boy Scout camping trip). This particular Pinto series was called Pinto Accent -- it was available in three color schemes: green and white, gold and white and orange and white. I'm surprised by the email I receive on occasion regarding this car. It appears that there are many Pinto fanciers out there -- some with Web pages devoted to this seventies sub-compact car. I have to admit, I do look out for Pintos -- and can even correctly guess the model year. Weird, I know.
